Plato's Cave

This project was inspired by Plato's allegory of the cave and focuses on the bubbles formed within society. These bubbles, which include what we feel to be familiar, known and comfortable, are formed within the home, which is the first environment we ever belong to, and shape the outline of the bubble in which we will live in the future. There appears to be a lot of similarities between the cave and the bubble, as well as us as society and the prisoners. The aim of this project is to familiarise the viewer with their own bubble and hopefully, like the philosopher in Plato’s cave manages to escape and see beyond his conditioned state, we the artists and the viewers will be able to do the same and break free from our invisible chains.
